Work
This week just gone, I started a new job as a full time PHP Developer at a web design company. I applied about 2 weeks ago, sent my CV, got an interview, and started Tuesday just gone. At the moment it’s a trial, as they need to see if I have the right skills for the job.
Sort of things I have been doing is pretty basic stuff, from formatting a CSV file and having it sent as an attachment via email, adding features and bug fixing on a few other sites. I really hope they give me a job which shows what skills I have.
Anyway, am really enjoying it.
pixelDepth Source
Considering the source is already out there, thought I would save people the time of having to register at certain warez sites just to see it.
pixelDepth was and is closed, so the source being stolen doesn’t really bother me, what bothers me is the security of my web host.
Anyway, here is the source, feel free to go through it and use bits of it. The code is a little old now, and there are a couple of bugs that I never fixed, use it as a reference if you are wanting to build your own CMS.
Here is the SQL database (structure only).
pixelDepth Ripped
So it seems that the complete source and SQL database for pixelDepth has been ripped and posted at warez sites. I have obtained a copy so I can see the notes of the hackers who done this, and it appears that somewhere on the BigWetFish server, someone was (and probably still is) using a script that had a security hole which allowed for the attackers to upload a PHP script called something like “c99shell.php” (most common name found in my searches). What I believe this script basically does, is allows access from the root level, so that would mean anyone on that server could access files from another account.
The script…

Edit:
After further investigating, it seems there is also another script out there which can be used to attack. It’s called “nst.php”.
Snap, Crackle and Pop
Spiders with sugar and milk for breakfast anyone?
“A nine-year-old boy complaining of “Rice Krispies” sounds has discovered he had two spiders living inside his ear.
Jesse Courtney from Albany, Oregon, complained of snap, crackle and pop noises in his ear but his mother Diane had no idea what his local doctor would pull out when she took her son for a short medical examination.”

Lack of support for RoR
Not that I really want to learn another language, but I wouldn’t mind installing a couple of web applications build with RoR (Ruby on Rails), some of them are really nice. I asked my hosting provider if they will support RoR, but nope. It’s a pitty, as my previous host (Elixant) added support for it without you needing to even ask.
I miss Elixant hosting, they were awesome.
Addicting Games
Lately I have been playing 2 addicting flash games…

and

The aim of both games is to kill the enemies before they reach the end of the maze, or the other side of the screen. Both are quite fun to play.
Got any other games that are addicting? If so, post them ![]()
Notepad2 Version 2.0.15
Forgot to blog about this.
Florian Balmer has updated Notepad2 for those that don’t know. I was getting Notepad2 again, but noticed he has updated it, which is just awesome.
If you want a lightweight text editor that isn’t stuffed with loads of features which you will probably not use, then I really suggest you look at Notepad2, you don’t need to install it.

My only wishes for Notepad2 would be some sort of snippet manager or something. Sort of like Mac’s TextMate editor. You enter a couple of letters, hit tab, and then the snippet is added. To see what I mean, have a look at Matt Mecham’s entry, there is a small video at the end of the entry that demonstrates exactly what I mean…

I just wish Notepad2 could add support in for that, would make my life complete ![]()
What Am I Doing?
- Installed W@W 1.02 patch, should now be able to play with American friends, let the desync commence
- Just finished playing World at War, can now connect to people. Spawning is really bad, a very high chance of being shot in the back.
- Still can't connect to anyone on World at War multiplayer, but people can connect to me, very annoying.
- Finished Call of Duty World at War single player, felt shorter than Modern Warfare. Now I can play Zombie mode.
- Played Call of Duty World at War, at the moment I'm not keen on it, WWII doesn't do it for me. I'll keep playing, might start to like it.
- Yay, I got news that Call of Duty World at War has been delivered from Game.
- Just finished playing Call of Duty 4, which could be the last time, as W@W should arrive tomorrow.
- At work
- Played some CoD4 before work, my team was really bad
- Downloading Ubuntu, Vista is horrible to develope on
- On my way home through the lovely rain on my bike
- Completed Far Cry 2 at the weekend
- Installed Twinkle app on touch, awesome for a free app
- Setting up Twitter on my Ipod Touch
