COD4: RPG’s Are Fun
My other videos…
Nothing much to post about since my last one, haven’t done anything exciting lately. Just been working, and continuing with Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.
Speaking about COD4:MW, anyone see the Call of Duty 5:World at War trailer? Looks pretty good, though I am not convinced it will top COD4, I think the downfall could be that it’s going back to WWII, we shall see.
Oh, I recorded myself playing COD4 if anyone is interested…
http://www.youtube.com/user/PopThosePringles
…watch them in high quality.
I record them using the Dazzle, but now I have a new TV with HD, so the PS3 is using the HDMI cable, which the Dazzle doesn’t support (HD). I setup the Dazzle and switch it to composite, the picture was horrible, lol.
Don’t do any programming outside of work at the moment, though I still have my framework I need to continue, haven’t forgotten about that. Most of the time I come home and just relax in front of the TV, no more running big forums, or do any programming for anyone else.
Nothing new really, I don’t spend a lot of time on the internet now, usually spend my free time playing COD4, or doing stuff with my nephews.
I bought GTA the other day, it’s pretty good, though COD4 wins still, lol.
On a programming note, I haven’t touched any personal projects for a long time, considering I do programming as my job, it’s nice to come home and relax, however I still have a personal project that I have picked at now and again, which is my own personal framework. It’s far from complete, but at it’s current state, it is usable.
Soon I hope to be making a new site for a bunch of friends, this site will likely become quite popular if it all works out as I expect. Will post more on that once I finalise the details.
Yesterday I bought Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 for the PS3, hoping it would give my the enjoyment of Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.
I started out with the Single player, played it for a couple of hours, which was a good sign already, because the last 2 games I bought have a combined play time of less than an hour, lol. Can’t really compare RB6V2 with COD4:MW as they are quite a bit different. RB6V2 is far more tactical, it has a very cool cover system where you can lean up against walls, boxes etc, and peak round the corners. COD4:MW is all about guns blazing, not so much tactical involved, though some modes can require tactics, all depends on your team I suppose.
I was a little disappointed with some of the graphics in RB6V2, though nothing that really puts me off, just could have done with some finer details in places.
The biggest let down for me; online play (aka multi-player). For the few games I played, it was extremely laggy, slow. It was hard using the cover system due to the lag, and most of my deaths were due to grenades being chucked left, right, and center. Maybe I caught it at a busy time, so I may give it another go after I have finished the single player. Something I did like was the way you can select which map you want to play, if only this was an option in COD4:MW.
Also, for both single and multi-player, is it not possible to cook your grenades? If not, then that is another let down for me
For me it doesn’t come close to COD4, but it does give me some enjoyment compared to Medal of Honour: Airborne, and Unreal Tournament III.
Anyone else got this game? What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I know I am COD4 crazy at the moment, but it’s just that damn good
Anyway, we PS3ers have been waiting a long time for this patch to come out, Xbox got it way before us, for some reason Sony likes to take their time, though I do have a theory about why it took so long…
About a month or so ago, someone claimed to have exploited the PS3 so they can cheat at COD4:MW online. They recorded a video of them self playing with cheats (aimbot, compass modifications etc). If anyone knows how computers work, they know that the PS3 is basically like any other computer, it’s just a matter of finding holes in the system or game so you can exploit it, which is what this person done. Basically the person injected some code into the save data files which allowed him to flag certain things on, change some values etc. Overall it was pretty simple, probably that simple it was overlooked by people who were trying to figure it out. Anyway, the person reported it to Infinity Ward (creators of COD4), though some how people started to figure it out, and it was released to the public.
Not sure on the exact dates of when the patch was sent to Sony (EU), though I have a guess it was before the exploit was reported, and it would make sense as to why the patch has took so much longer. I have a feeling that IW requested the patch to be rejected so they could quickly implement a quick fix to the exploit. I could be wrong, might just be Sony being so damn slow.
Anyway, the patch has fixed the exploit, so as of now, there is no one using the exploit online, though am pretty sure it won’t be too much longer until someone finds another exploit, it seems to happen with all other games.
Here is a list of the changes / additions to the patch, overall it’s nice, though there still are problems.
New Kill Cams - Everything that can kill you has a Kill Cam now. Grenades, Airstrikes, Claymores, C4, M203 Rounds, RPGs, anything. So jump online, get owned alittle and check them out. They’re awesome, especially Grenades and M203 shots that go across the map and through a window.
Host Migration - Host migration was added, so now when the host leaves you won’t get dropped back to your own lobby by yourself. Everyone will stay together. Host Leaves, everyone returns to lobby, selects next best host, and the game starts up again. No more re-inviting, re-partying up because a host ended the game.
Improved Sniper Accuracy - The Sniper rifle accuracy has been improved. No more, WTF? shots now. Your cross hair will be a better representation of where your shot will ultimately land. Try out a sniper class today, let us know how the new accuracy feels.
Improved ACOG Scope Accuracy - ACOG scopes accuracy on any weapon has been improved. Test it out, throw it on one of your classes and give it a go.
Upgraded Spectator Cam - Now when you’re a spectator you have the option to follow in 3rd person or 1st person. As well as rotate 360 degrees around the player you’re watching. Next time you’re dead in Search and Destroy and just watching your team mates do stuff you know you can do better, now do it in 1st person or rotate around them.
Quick Mute Option - Now you can easily and quickly mute players in-game without ever going through the Xbox Live blades. Just go to their gamertag on screen and hit ‘A’ to quick mute via the in-game scoreboard if playing. Quick. Easy. Salvation!
In addition to these feature additions there will also be:
Improved Network Performance For Larger Games - 18 player games now require more bandwidth to host, resulting in smoother performance for players.
Optimized Server Selection for First Match - Server selection is now optimized to select best bandwidth servers associated by LSP.
Fixed “Playlist Older Than Host” Error - Player will no longer get this error when entering games.
Additional Start Spawn Locations in All Maps - Added a minimum of 9 extra start spawns on each side of all maps.
Coming soon in April, there will be 4 new maps, though they won’t be free.
lol, check this out, must have took a lot of time.
Right now I am really into First Person Shooting games, and am extremely addicted to Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. Last month I thought I would buy another FPS game, which was Medal of Honour: Airborne. Compared to Call of Duty, it really sucked, just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Today I thought I would buy Unreal Tournament 3, it had good reviews, so I was expecting something amazing. I played it for about 2 hours, though I didn’t enjoy it as much as Call of Duty.
So yeah, looks like that’s another game which I will never play, lol. It’s going to be a while before anything can match Call of Duty, maybe BattleField Bad Company can.
Recently I have been trying to sniff the PS3. No, it’s not some new fetish, I am sniffing the packets. Problem is, I never get anything from the PS3, I have tried it with the browser, and with an online game, still nothing. I use Wireshark, and it works fine, but for some reason I just can’t capture anything from the PS3.
Last night I tried to get the PS3 to share my laptop connection (Internet Connection Sharing), but no joy. I have read tons of articles on how to do it, but nothing will work.
What’s my reason for capturing the PS3?
I do have a good reason for doing it, though don’t wish to share why, or more specifically what I am trying to capture, as it will be a new project for me to allow the gaming community to use.
Has anyone else got any ideas? I have heard about something called a “CrossOver Cable”, but haven’t looked into that yet.
My setup is:
BT Home Hub
WLAN Card for laptop
So everything is wireless, PS3 connects to the hub, and the laptop connects to the hub via WLAN card. Some how I need to make the PS3 connect to my laptop so I can capture all the data.
Since I bought COD4:MW, I have played it none stop, it is a highly addictive multiplayer game. Up until 2 days ago, there were problems for the PS3. Sometimes it would take a long time to get in to a game. IW (Infinity Ward - Creators of the game) has been working on a patch which was released Friday, and I must say, getting into a game is a lot quicker. Not only that, EU can now play against other PS3 players.
What I am looking forward to the most, is extra kill cams, new maps, and a few bug fixes. Have a read of this post for information…
Awesome news if you are a COD fan.
I bought this game a few days ago for my PS3, it’s bloody brilliant. Little disappointed with the single player being rather short, though it was fun. 99% of my time is spent playing online (multi-player) in various game modes (Free For All, Team Deathmatch etc). This is the first time I have ever played a game online against other people.
I won’t give you a review, Eternity from ProVision, and IGN sums it all up…

I am addicted to it. I have played it non-stop since I got it. I never thought I would play a FPS that would beat Goldeneye on the N64, now I have.
I seriously recommend this game.
