Last month, me and some of the lads went to Amsterdam. Overall it was good, though very busy, lots of people on bikes.
Most people think of sex and drugs when they hear “Amsterdam”, but I can tell you there is a lot more than that, lots of things to do while there.
On the first night, we went to the Sports Bar for a meal, and to watch the England match, it was good, even though I got bored of the match. I didn’t mind the first half, but after that I had enough. After the match, we decided to take a walk, I think it was around 11:00PM, and we were close to the Red Light District. One of the annoying things of being out that late, is the drug dealers whole keep asking you if you want any, most of them back off once you tell them, but some are quite persistent, so you have to be more aggressive towards them. Good thing is we were all walking together in a group, once they saw that, they backed away.
Red Light District was cool, we had a look (come on, who wouldn’t?) to see what it was all about, young girls in little clothing trying to entice you in with there seductive methods. Some of them were really young though, they only looked about 16 / 17, shame really.
Most of our time was spent going for food, looking around shops, going for more food, and going to a few clubs.
If you haven’t been yet, then I highly recommend it, it’s a good experience.
I have some pictures, I kinda of went click happy, just taking things of whatever I saw.
Today I was involved in Dragon Boat racing at Oulton Broad. The weather couldn’t have been any better, it was sunny and hot, I got sun burnt. I was in 3 races in total, our first race wasn’t great, we got off to a bad start due to not hearing the person on the mic telling us to go. On the second race, we done alot better, it helped with the person at the back giving us some decent tips, as most of us have never done it before.
But yes, it’s been a great day, am rather tired now. I have uploaded some pictures to flickr…

Also, while walking through the park on my way home, I came across a Squirrel…

Nothing new really, I don’t spend a lot of time on the internet now, usually spend my free time playing COD4, or doing stuff with my nephews.
I bought GTA the other day, it’s pretty good, though COD4 wins still, lol.
On a programming note, I haven’t touched any personal projects for a long time, considering I do programming as my job, it’s nice to come home and relax, however I still have a personal project that I have picked at now and again, which is my own personal framework. It’s far from complete, but at it’s current state, it is usable.
Soon I hope to be making a new site for a bunch of friends, this site will likely become quite popular if it all works out as I expect. Will post more on that once I finalise the details.
Yesterday I bought Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 for the PS3, hoping it would give my the enjoyment of Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.
I started out with the Single player, played it for a couple of hours, which was a good sign already, because the last 2 games I bought have a combined play time of less than an hour, lol. Can’t really compare RB6V2 with COD4:MW as they are quite a bit different. RB6V2 is far more tactical, it has a very cool cover system where you can lean up against walls, boxes etc, and peak round the corners. COD4:MW is all about guns blazing, not so much tactical involved, though some modes can require tactics, all depends on your team I suppose.
I was a little disappointed with some of the graphics in RB6V2, though nothing that really puts me off, just could have done with some finer details in places.
The biggest let down for me; online play (aka multi-player). For the few games I played, it was extremely laggy, slow. It was hard using the cover system due to the lag, and most of my deaths were due to grenades being chucked left, right, and center. Maybe I caught it at a busy time, so I may give it another go after I have finished the single player. Something I did like was the way you can select which map you want to play, if only this was an option in COD4:MW.
Also, for both single and multi-player, is it not possible to cook your grenades? If not, then that is another let down for me
For me it doesn’t come close to COD4, but it does give me some enjoyment compared to Medal of Honour: Airborne, and Unreal Tournament III.
Anyone else got this game? What are your thoughts?

Seems that newest release of Safari fails the acid 2 test.
When you run the test, it seems there is no problem, you get the smiley face rendered correctly…

I haven’t had time to read through it yet, but am pretty sure it will be a good read, there are lots of example snippets for you to look at to get a better understanding of the topic.
Yeah, I know I am COD4 crazy at the moment, but it’s just that damn good
Anyway, we PS3ers have been waiting a long time for this patch to come out, Xbox got it way before us, for some reason Sony likes to take their time, though I do have a theory about why it took so long…
About a month or so ago, someone claimed to have exploited the PS3 so they can cheat at COD4:MW online. They recorded a video of them self playing with cheats (aimbot, compass modifications etc). If anyone knows how computers work, they know that the PS3 is basically like any other computer, it’s just a matter of finding holes in the system or game so you can exploit it, which is what this person done. Basically the person injected some code into the save data files which allowed him to flag certain things on, change some values etc. Overall it was pretty simple, probably that simple it was overlooked by people who were trying to figure it out. Anyway, the person reported it to Infinity Ward (creators of COD4), though some how people started to figure it out, and it was released to the public.
Not sure on the exact dates of when the patch was sent to Sony (EU), though I have a guess it was before the exploit was reported, and it would make sense as to why the patch has took so much longer. I have a feeling that IW requested the patch to be rejected so they could quickly implement a quick fix to the exploit. I could be wrong, might just be Sony being so damn slow.
Anyway, the patch has fixed the exploit, so as of now, there is no one using the exploit online, though am pretty sure it won’t be too much longer until someone finds another exploit, it seems to happen with all other games.
Here is a list of the changes / additions to the patch, overall it’s nice, though there still are problems.
New Kill Cams - Everything that can kill you has a Kill Cam now. Grenades, Airstrikes, Claymores, C4, M203 Rounds, RPGs, anything. So jump online, get owned alittle and check them out. They’re awesome, especially Grenades and M203 shots that go across the map and through a window.
Host Migration - Host migration was added, so now when the host leaves you won’t get dropped back to your own lobby by yourself. Everyone will stay together. Host Leaves, everyone returns to lobby, selects next best host, and the game starts up again. No more re-inviting, re-partying up because a host ended the game.
Improved Sniper Accuracy - The Sniper rifle accuracy has been improved. No more, WTF? shots now. Your cross hair will be a better representation of where your shot will ultimately land. Try out a sniper class today, let us know how the new accuracy feels.
Improved ACOG Scope Accuracy - ACOG scopes accuracy on any weapon has been improved. Test it out, throw it on one of your classes and give it a go.
Upgraded Spectator Cam - Now when you’re a spectator you have the option to follow in 3rd person or 1st person. As well as rotate 360 degrees around the player you’re watching. Next time you’re dead in Search and Destroy and just watching your team mates do stuff you know you can do better, now do it in 1st person or rotate around them.
Quick Mute Option - Now you can easily and quickly mute players in-game without ever going through the Xbox Live blades. Just go to their gamertag on screen and hit ‘A’ to quick mute via the in-game scoreboard if playing. Quick. Easy. Salvation!
In addition to these feature additions there will also be:
Improved Network Performance For Larger Games - 18 player games now require more bandwidth to host, resulting in smoother performance for players.
Optimized Server Selection for First Match - Server selection is now optimized to select best bandwidth servers associated by LSP.
Fixed “Playlist Older Than Host” Error - Player will no longer get this error when entering games.
Additional Start Spawn Locations in All Maps - Added a minimum of 9 extra start spawns on each side of all maps.
Coming soon in April, there will be 4 new maps, though they won’t be free.
